Month Recap: September

Thanks to my new Kate Spade planner (which I would be a mess without) I’ve been doing a significant amount of planning, organizing and reflecting. At the end of every month, the planner has two pages dedicated for notes. Maybe it was reading Gerard Hopkins that made me feel like I too wanted to a write something a lot deeper than the IWB my business professor had assigned or a sudden Carrie Bradshaw moment but I decided that I would dedicate those two pages to reflect on the past month. So, here’s my first reflection – September edition.

This month has really, truly been about change. Adjusting. In the span of a month, I have gone from living in a home with the people I have known my entire life to living in a room with complete strangers. Sharing an almost box of a room with two people I probably would not have met under any other circumstances (mom would call this “fate”) is really odd. It feels like summer camp most of the time and being forced to room with my siblings some of the time. September was also a month in which I learnt that I can’t say no when it comes to shopping. I blew through $200 in a week on just clothes – clothes! It was either the slowly descending numbers of my bank account or my love for caffeine that caused way too much anxiety. This month I also settled into somewhat of a routine. A 30 minute battle with the alarm clock – sometimes sleep wins and I miss class but most times responsibility forces me out of my bunkbed. Followed by a gym session later in the day with a side of Sex and the City, and perhaps a dinner with my roommates and me spending more money. Perhaps the biggest thing that’s happening this month is my internship with DCFW. Which is so far, so good. But I do have to say, being around so many thin people really makes a girl lose her appetite – maybe that’ll be the secret behind my new diet? “Surround yourself with skinny friends so all you can think about is how you’d rather be fasting than feasting”. All in all, September has been good to me. I am learning a lot of new things and it’s been without a doubt a month of new experiences and I can only imagine that October will be nothing less.

Well. Here’s hoping.

Xo,

Nomi
