Hi!
So if you follow me on my social media platforms such as Instagram you would know that I recently went to New York City for a couple of hours.
Anyway, with that being said, I thought I would do a little post talking about the trip and what my thoughts were since I couldn't find any videos or reviews that really talked about first impressions and what the schools are like before flying over to NYC.
Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)
* I just want to apologize before hand for the quality of the photos, all of them were taken on my iPhone while I was walking*

So the FIT tour was kicked off with a really well organized and informative information session. It was, I think, over at least thirty minutes and were given a powerpoint presentation with all the requirements, overall statistics of the school and what the programs offered were like, etc. Even though a lot of the information given during this time were things you could easily find off their website and most of which, I had read on their website, it was still really helpful just to hear it again and in person since I was able to ask about the specifics. From this session, I got a really good vibe of the school, it was pretty much a closed campus which I actually found that I liked since it felt safer to know most of the people that were walking around the different buildings were students enrolled in FIT.

After the introductory session, the group was split up into three and were taken on a tour with actual students as dudes. My tour guide was coincidentally another student in the major that I was interested in which I was really happy about since if I had any questions about the major while on tour or about classes specific to my major, I could just ask her. What I noticed about the campus whilst on the tour was that there were a lot of stairs/escalators and different twists and turns - definitely a place where it took a couple of attempts to know where you need to go.
The first place we visited was Nagler Hall, which was for the same gender dorms.

To be completely honest with you, the dorm that they showed us didn't look that great. I mean, it could have been just because there were no students inside to decorate or give the room a more warm vibe since I did kinda get a glimpse of a decorated dorm while walking through the hall and they didn’t look too bad. The building is guarded 24/7 and the guide explained that although visitors, whether or not they are staying the night, are allowed they’re required to be signed in before. The dorms at Nagler Hall are the least expensive and the rooms were basically just split in half with a twin bed, desk, closet and dresser on each side. You do get a meal plan since there isn’t a kitchen and there’s a shared bathroom for each floor. The hallways were a little bit cramped and a little dark but other then that, they were decent.

Something that I loved about the school and what definitely stood out was their free massage service for the students. I am a huge sucker for pamper services like that and really enjoy getting a massage every now and then so I know that if I’m enrolled for the fall, I will definitely be making use of their massage service. They also showed us the labs where students experimented with different perfumes, where they filmed segments for tv shows as well as the library and study areas.

What I loved about the cafeteria, though it was a bit dark was the fact that there was a Starbucks. This year (senior year) I haven’t been able to go without coffee so I know how important it is to have a good and strong cup of coffee during exam times. To sum it up all up, although FIT’s facilities seemed a bit old and some of the hallways were dark, I got a very good vibe from the school and from what they said and explained, it seemed like they paid attention and took care of their students as well as put a heavy emphasis on helping them succeed academically which is the most important for me. After this tour, FIT is still one of my top choices and I definitely would recommend you guys to check it if you are interested fashion and want to be in center of where it all goes down, New York City!
Thank you for reading and stay tuned for my Parson’s post!
